Planting the Seed
We often talk about “planting the seed” with our preschoolers. We introduce Bible stories and, to the best of our ability, make them understandable at their level. Most of the time, we do not get to see whether the seed takes root. Instead, we rely on the Holy Spirit to do His work.
During Chapel, Pastor introduces the lesson, and I provide the teachers with additional material to use during “Jesus Time” to reinforce Pastor’s message—and it’s working! We are seeing the seed take root.
Our most recent Chapel and Jesus Time story was Jesus Enters Jerusalem. We explained that everyone wanted to greet Jesus as He entered Jerusalem because they had heard about the miracles He performed. The children were asked, “Does anyone remember any of Jesus’ miracles?”
A sea of hands shot up, all eager to answer:
“Jesus raised the little girl!” (Jairus’ daughter)
“Jesus raised Zaccheus!” (He meant Lazarus—but “A” for effort!)
“He calmed the storm!”
“He fed lots of people with a little bit of bread and fish!”
“He made the man walk again!”
These were all Chapel lessons they had heard… and remembered!
To watch their faith grow is such a blessing. To know they are repeating these stories not only at school but also at home means the Holy Spirit is working in their hearts—what a joy! We end each Chapel and Kids Praise with “Jesus Loves Me,” followed by the Doxology and the Lord’s Prayer. We ask that you continue to keep our students, staff, and families in your prayers.
Let the Kingdom grow!
Blessings,
Tracey
