From the Desk of Kevin Gundell

Kevin Gundell LCMS

Greetings and Happy Summer to all of our dedicated educators, school leaders, and supporters! I pray that the more relaxed rhythm of the summer has brought deep restoration and renewal to your body, mind, and spirit.

However, let’s be honest – for teachers, turning the calendar to August often brings a feeling similar to a Sunday evening during the school year. We all know the fast-paced, demanding rhythm of the academic year is just around the corner, and our period of quiet rest is coming to a close. Even so, I encourage each of you to embrace this approaching school year with renewed energy!

Teachers hold one of the most special vocations God offers His people. Yes, it can be overwhelming, and only the most dedicated and talented people can do it, but the rewards are truly priceless. Teachers get to mold young minds, share the Gospel with children and families, and build relationships that extend far beyond the classroom walls. Teachers are uniquely blessed to serve and fully equipped by God for His purpose.

As teachers gear up for another year of adventure with a new class of students, we all need to keep them in prayer! Please pray for our schools and all workers that make them special places that uniquely serve our district communities. For our teachers, let the following be your prayer:

"Heavenly Father, thank you for thistime of rest and restoration. Please equip me for your purpose. Inmind, body, and spirit, help me to capitalize on the opportunitiesthat you put beforeme thisschool year. Blessour school. Blessmy classroom and all that enter. Blessme and help me to be a blessingto others. Amen."

Zion Lutheran Church
The heart and soul of our worship is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe God comes to us in worship to forgive our sins, strengthen our faith, and equip us for the challenges and opportunities for the week ahead. Our worship times are 8:00 and 10:30 on Sunday mornings with a Bible Study for adults and Sunday School for children of all ages at 9:30. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated at both services every week. Sunday morning worship is the highlight of the week at Zion Lutheran Church!!! We hope you will be able to join us! Each Wednesday this year (2014), we also have a 7:00 p.m. service. This service is shorter than our weekend service, in order to accommodate families with young children. If you have any questions about our worship, please e-mail or call our Pastor: pastor@zlcb.org 412-667-0967
