Zion Lutheran Church went to the Ballpark and caught The Washington Wild Things playing The Joliet Slammers
A nice-sized group of baseball fans and Zion members (pictured above) headed to Wild Things Stadium in Washington, PA to catch The Washington Wild Things play the Joliet Slammer. Zion members started the evening off by meeting in the private pavilion with food before the game!
The Wild Things compete in the Frontier League (FL) as a member of the Central Division in the Midwest Conference. While the Joliet Slammers compete in the West Division in the Midwest Conference. Just for the record, The Washington Wild Things defeated the Joliet Slammers 10-9 (on June 28, 2026), securing the win with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning by Antonio Monroy. And what would a Wild Things game be without Zion’s very own “Accordion Man” Doug Krantz!
The franchise was founded in 1997 as an expansion team as the Canton Crocodiles, and have won their only Frontier Cup in history during their inaugural season. They have the most playoff appearances in all Frontier League teams, with 15 since their founding, including nine division championships.
