Concordia Lutheran Ministries: A Ministry Worth Supporting!
I want to take an opportunity to share some information about Concordia Lutheran Ministries (CLM), a valued partner in our shared mission of Christian care and compassion. Many of you may not be aware that we have four members of Zion -- Pastor, Paul Klemash, Bryan Kress, and I -- currently serving on various boards a CLM. Serving as volunteers are Barb Fisher at Concordia of the South Hills, in the Heath Center and the Memory Unit, and Tracey Johnson at Concordia Hospice of Washington. It’s a meaningful connection, and one that reflects our congregation’s support of this Christ-centered ministry.

What Services Does Concordia Provide?
Concordia offers a wide range of senior care and health services across western Pennsylvania and beyond. Here are just a few of their key areas of service:

  • Personal Care and Assisted Living: Compassionate support for daily living activities in a secure, homelike environment.

  • Memory Support: Specialized care for individuals with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, emphasizing dignity and quality of life.

  • Short-Term Rehabilitation: Skilled therapy services to help patients regain strength and independence after surgery, illness, or injury.

  • Home and Community Services: Including home health care, hospice, and palliative care, provide the comfort and familiarity of being at home.

  • Long-Term Skilled Nursing: Professional and faith-based care for residents requiring 24/7 nursing support.

  • Independent Living: Worry-free senior living communities for independent older adults.

Why Does This Matter to Us?
As a member congregation, Zion and its members benefit from being part of a larger Lutheran ministry that puts faith into action. Individuals from member churches may have access to additional support and accommodation when services are needed. Concordia's work reflects the very values we hold dear: compassion, service, and Christian love.

Can You Choose Concordia for Your Care?
Yes, in many cases, you can request Concordia when you need services such as short-term rehabilitation, home health care, or hospice care. It’s always wise to let your physician or discharge planner know your preference sooner rather than later.

Final Thoughts
Concordia is more than a healthcare provider; it’s a ministry that reflects the hands and feet of Christ in the world. Our congregation's involvement is a testament to the importance of faith-driven service. I’ve included a link to the CLM Guide to Services, which outlines all locations and home and community organizations: concordialm.org

Zion Lutheran Church
The heart and soul of our worship is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe God comes to us in worship to forgive our sins, strengthen our faith, and equip us for the challenges and opportunities for the week ahead. Our worship times are 8:00 and 10:30 on Sunday mornings with a Bible Study for adults and Sunday School for children of all ages at 9:30. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated at both services every week. Sunday morning worship is the highlight of the week at Zion Lutheran Church!!! We hope you will be able to join us! Each Wednesday this year (2014), we also have a 7:00 p.m. service. This service is shorter than our weekend service, in order to accommodate families with young children. If you have any questions about our worship, please e-mail or call our Pastor: pastor@zlcb.org 412-667-0967
