Operation: Stars and Stripes
February 9, 2015 marked the 3rd annual Operation: Stars and Stripes assembly day for our Sunday school children. The day began with devotions, meditating on the Bible verse from Matthew 5: 16, “Let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Children learned that our troops put their lives at risk to protect our country. We are thankful for their sacrifice and we want to show our gratitude for their service. Most importantly, we hope that that God’s incredible love for all people shines through and that they know the hope of forgiveness, salvation and eternal life through Jesus!
Children from preschool – 5th grade worked together in an assembly line, filling 277 bags of love with Ramen Noodles, Beef Jerky, Granola Bars, Drink mix, Twizzlers and Gum. Also included were coloring pages, letters of encouragement, and a tract called “What is the Gospel?”. Kids from 6th – 8th grade along with several adult congregation members assisted with the assembly line. Many thanks to all who helped make this collection such a great success! Our day ended in prayer with praise and thanksgiving to our faithful and almighty God.
