The Standard is

Perfection!

 

 

 

 

Bible Verses: Matthew 5:20, 48, 1 Corinthians 15:22; Romans 1:17; 3:23; 7:7-8;  Philippians 3:4-8, James 2:10.

 

1) You may look good compared to other people, but God does not compare you with other people.   The divine standard of holiness is perfection!  There are NO “good Christians.“  Jesus told His disciples: "Be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect."

 

2) From the Apology to the Augsburg Confession: “Here are men who imagine that we can keep the law in such a way as to do even more than it requires, but Scripture cries out everywhere that we are far away from the perfection that the law requires.”

 

3) If you are hanging from a cliff by a chain made up of 100 links, it makes no difference if “only one link breaks.”  "If you keep the whole law and offend in one point, your are guilty of all." James 2:10

 

4)  How will you ever attain to the perfection and righteousness of God?
