Step 2:

To Avoid  Shame:

Play the

 Blame Game!

Bible Verses: Genesis 3:12-13.

1) Adam blamed Eve for his failure.  Eve blamed the snake.  When accused of wrong-doing, who do you blame?

2) We all claim to be miserable sinners, but we are very unwilling to admit that we ever do anything wrong.  "It's not my fault!"

3) Paul Tournier wrote in his classic book "Guilt and Grace," “We defend ourselves against criticism with the same energy we employ in defending ourselves against hunger, cold or wild beasts, for it is a mortal threat.”

4) Regardless of the situation or the circumstances, some people are never happy and it is always someone else's fault.  Perhaps the finger is being pointed in the wrong direction.  Maybe you are the problem.  Huh?  Obviously, you will not get such an assessment from your friendly psychologist.

5) Comedian Bill Cosby said, “If you have only one kid, you are not a family because if something gets broken, you know who did it.”  There is no one to blame.

6) What does it mean to see ourselves through the eyes of God?  Consider how you look when seen by a perfectly holy and righteous God.
