The Rev. Donald G. Matzat

 

Pastor Matzat was installed in June of 2002 as the pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Bridgeville, PA.  He has been a pastor in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod for over 35 years serving congregations in Indiana, Michigan, New York City and St. Louis

 

In 1991, Pastor Matzat left the parish ministry to become a talk show host on KFUO, a radio station owned and operated by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.  He also hosted a Sunday night national program called Issues,etc., heard on nearly 100 stations coast-to-coast.  In 1999 he accepted a position with WORD FM in Pittsburgh and served as the afternoon talk show host until accepting the call to be the pastor at Zion.

 

Pastor Matzat is the author of four books:  Inner Healing: Deliverance or Deception?; Christ-Esteem; Truly Transformed; and The Lord Told Me ... I Think.  He is the author of numerous articles and has spoken at conferences and seminars.  In 1997 and 2000 he lectured at the International Academy of Apologetics, Evangelism & Human Rights in Strasbourg, France. He was an essayist at the 1998 LCMS Convention in St. Louis and the keynote speaker at a National Lutherans For Life Convention.  In May of 1998, Pastor Matzat received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

 

Pastor and his wife Dianne live in Canonsburg.  They have four children and nine grandchildren.  Dianne serves as the secretary of Zion Lutheran Church.
